Don't Be A Sucker All Your Life!

Ok, I will keep this brief.  When it comes to makeup, I am COMPLETELY smitten, so lets not mistake this as an opportunity to hate on the masses that worship it.  This is simply an educated approach to analyzing an obsession.  If you know me, then you know that anything I do, I expect to be good at, if there is any doubt I will be, I'm just not interested.

This is where I step away and leave that  obstacle to a professional; case in point, I pay to have my nails done: point blank period.

So when it came to Makeup, this was a task that was no different.  In order to properly adorn this canvas, I was going to need it all. So, I began my research. I came up with a framework, the things I would need to get me through my life.  I found that the Flawless Face is built on pretty much the same platform as the Perfect Fit. Below is a list of Kit Essentials:

   -Moisturizer
   -Primer
   -Concealer
   -Foundation
   -Eyelid Primer
   -Powder
   -Eyeshadow
   -BRUSHES
   -Lip Gloss
   -Lipstick
   -Highlighter
   -Bronzer
   -Blush
   -Eyeliner
   -Eyebrow Pencil

Alright, time to get down to the point of it all...!

I will agree with the experts, all elements need to be possible in order to create an event of epic proportions with each look.  I also agree with the "concept" that you get what you pay for.  However, I have this annoying habit of not spending more than $10 on a disposable item. My gripe is as such, if the world is moving toward an era where high quality can come at any price, why is it that I am seeing a single shade of eyeshadow by a brand that shall remain nameless costing upwards of $60!

WTF?!

No Ma'am! From this point forward, I promise to provide you with Fabulous Dupes of all things makeup and K.I.S.S(keep it sexy and simple) by not providing look here that costs more than $20. If they make it, so does somebody else and for less! Any requests are welcome.  CHALLENGE me;-)

NOOK

Fotografías: Alekzander Wolf para Fashion and About.

Purpose, meaning and hope

The wonderful Tabitha of bourbon and pearls recently coined this phrase and it spoke volumes to me, i have been formulating what to do with myself over the last 9 months, since you last heard from me properly - life was very stressful workwise last year and to be fair, now that things are on a more even keel, it functions well without me - i no longer feel any great meaning or purpose from it, i will always do what i have to because it provides us with a good std of living but mr does a bloody brilliant job and it is more his baby - what was both of ours - really is now more his and he gets a lot of satisfaction from which is kind of the way it should be.

Which brings me back to me ....  As those of you will know from past posts i have been designing and working with a tailor for the last year, what you may not know is that post leaving school i attended fashion college and trained as a designer with pattern cutting and tailoring as skills - this was a long time ago but i did for my early 20's follow this path and then left it behind one way or another and life went a different way but i have always kept up the skills privately.

The last year has honed them, reminded me how things should be done and re-awakened my great love of design.  Hence i have invested a small fortune with amazon and re-visited a ton of skills with book after book.  The upshot is that this year i have been doing the construction and pattern cutting myself - and although it really hurts my brain - i find i can do it again.  It was suggested to me that i start a collection by various persons last year and this and then i arrived at the above mentioned post and everything that was processing for quite some time became a lot more clear and solid,  so i decided to to finally start a new business, build a brand and work on a collection - pheww!!  I have re-launched the blog to share and soundboard this journey, see the designs working in flesh and photo, thereby adapting and perfecting them and to record my thoughts and visions.

Next post i will be discussing the collection i am working on and the brand i want to build.

And the fact that as a well established business woman i see absolutely no way whatsoever of making a profit - this indeed is my stumbling block - business for love and not money - a whole new concept - who knows?? xxx

And as for Frankie - he will be back with some mr pics next week - bless! xx

Hopefully those pics will be a little brighter - the sun was actually shining ....

Dezso

I have already talked to you about Dezso and the amazing Sara Beltrán. Now, it´s time for her latest collection. And let me tell you, it is so inspirational. As you know, Dezso is all about peace, and a very relaxed mood and for her presentation in New York called "Nahual", she stated India as being part of her, and it´s on every detail of the jewelry.

Here is part of the inspiration for Sara.
Nahual represents our deepest part, the one that remains unseen. It is the fragment of our soul that is more in contact with nature. It is our carnal side. It is the carnal side of us that allows us to deepen our senses. It is an ally to our soul and it remains with us for life. It teaches us to go back to our nature and keeps us from danger. India is that magic creature that chose Sara to stay with her. For Sara, “Nahual” is about the relationship between her and India: the link and the deepest world inside of her.

Don´t you love it?

8 Marzo

On the mirror

Heard it from a friend over a conversation last week.

I wish I could be a vampire. You know, never being able to look at a mirror. Vampires can´t see themselves on a mirror, right? I hate the mirrors I have at home. The only mirror I love is the one at the entrance of my building. I think it´s because of the light. Oh gosh! It´s all about the light. I hate puting my make up in front of my dresser, I like the light over there, but then on the mirror I have on the kitchen I don´t like myself. I can see all my pores and everything. Mirrors are bad, believe me. Or I think it is the light the one that is the enemy. Why can´t we all live in a world with perfect light. No pores, no wrinkles, just a wonderful skin. Whyyy?!!!
